University of Alabama Trombone Studio

Where Serious Study Meets Supportive Community

Trombonists at UA grow both musically and personally through a comprehensive and supportive curriculum. Weekly applied lessons focus on solo repertoire, etudes, and the development of fundamental techniques. Students perform regularly in large ensembles including wind band, marching band, pep band, orchestra, and jazz ensemble, and engage in a variety of chamber music settings such as trombone quartet, trombone choir, brass quintet, and mixed chamber groups.

The weekly studio class is a cornerstone of the program. Topics include peer and faculty feedback on performances, along with presentations on breathwork, mindfulness, journaling, open communication, and the mind–body connection. When these experiences are combined with coursework in each degree plan, our students graduate prepared for the next step—whether entering the profession or continuing to graduate study.

We invite you to explore the website, where Dr. Faske has compiled extensive information to assist prospective students and parents. You’ll find guidance on the audition process as well as insights into the musical and professional values that shape our program.
